Challenges and Opportunities to Local Communities’ Resilience in Global Change delves into the critical role of local communities in addressing the multifaceted impacts of global change. From climate change and economic instability to political upheavals and cultural transformations, local communities are often at the forefront of these interconnected challenges. While their unique adaptive capacities and deep reservoirs of indigenous knowledge provide valuable tools for sustainable development and crisis management, their resilience is frequently undermined by limited resources, inadequate legal protections, and persistent social inequities.

This proceeding brings together interdisciplinary perspectives to explore the complexities of community resilience in an era of rapid global transformation. Through case studies, theoretical analyses, and applied research, contributors examine the barriers that hinder local communities' ability to adapt and thrive, as well as the opportunities to harness their inherent strengths. The interplay between traditional practices and modern approaches is emphasized, highlighting the importance of bridging diverse knowledge systems to develop inclusive and effective solutions.

By addressing the challenges and opportunities faced by local communities, this volume seeks to contribute to a more equitable and sustainable future. It provides policymakers, researchers, and practitioners with valuable insights into empowering communities to navigate global change, emphasizing the need for comprehensive strategies that not only mitigate vulnerabilities but also amplify the resilience and agency of those on the frontline of global crises.
