This Conference Proceedings Volume contains the written versions of the contributions presented during the 1st European Alliance for Innovation (EAI) International Conference on Smart Grid Assisted Internet of Things which was held at Essar Convergence Centre (ECC) located in the campus of Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, from July 11-12, 2017. As the first edition of this conference, a unique opportunity was provided to discuss the recent developments in the smart grid from the context of the Internet of Things (IoT), which has emerged as a hot research area in recent times. Participants from 9 different countries, namely, Algeria, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, India, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and the USA registered/presented 12 papers covering a plethora of research areas. This Proceedings Volume provides the permanent record of what was presented in this event.
