Building on a very successful eHealth 2008 conference, the aim of eHealth 2009 is to bring together experts from academia, industry and global healthcare institutions to stimulate cutting-edge research discussions, share experience with real-world healthcare service providers and policy makers as well as provide numerous business opportunities. Despite substantial budgets spent on eHealth in recent years, existing healthcare services do not sufficiently address the issue of patient privacy, trust, or quality-assurance, nor the potential in e-learning and web mining for delivering 21st-century healthcare systems for European citizens. The key topic of eHealth 2009 will be investigating a realistic potential of the Internet in providing evidence-based healthcare information and education to patients and global users.
