Abstract

In this paper we embed the theory of cooperative differential games within the theory of dynamic games and discuss a number of results and developments that have been achieved/pursued.\ To that end the paper starts with an outline of some basic characteristics of game theory. We stress the role cooperation, information, organizational structure and choice of solution concept play in the outcome of a game. Most solution concepts chosen in cooperative games ask for Pareto efficiency. For that reason we review some results on how to determine the set of Pareto efficient solutions. Finally we also review some developments in the intermediate of cooperative and noncooperative games: coalitional games.
