Abstract
The purpose of this study is to ascertain the simultaneous and partial effects of the tourism industry on the GRDP of the North Sumatra Province, as shown by the variables of visitor numbers, room occupancy rate, and average duration of stay. Multiple linear regression using ordinary least squares is the analysis model that is employed. Time series secondary data from the BPS covering the observation years 2010–2023 is used. According to the study's findings, the tourism industry's gross regional product (GRDP) is positively and significantly impacted by both visitor numbers and room occupancy rates. On the other hand, the GRDP of the tourist industry is unaffected by the average duration of stay. Then, with a coefficient of determination of 76.25 percent, the number of visitors, room occupancy rate, and average length of stay all significantly affect the GRDP of the tourism industry in North Sumatra Province at the same time. Other variables that were not examined account for the remaining 23.75 percent. The study's findings further clarify that the number of visitors is the primary determinant of GRDP in the travel and tourism industry.
