Abstract
In recent years, the diffusion model has emerged as a powerful type of generative AI and has demonstrated remarkable potential in motion planning tasks. This study presents a systematic review on the application of diffusion models in the motion planning of autonomous robots. The review covered the application of diffusion models across five key domains: Static environments, Dynamic environments, Single-robot systems, Multiple-robot systems, and Human-robot interaction scenarios. For each of these categories, the paper presents key methodologies used, analyzes how the application of diffusion systems address core challenges, and discusses their advantages and limitations. Through surveying existing papers, the review highlights several challenges faced by current applications of diffusion models, such as reliance on high quality data and low computational efficiency. Moreover, the review discusses possible solutions to these challenges, highlighting potential research directions in the application of diffusion models.
