QoE Aware Resource Allocation for Video Communications over LTE Based Mobile Networks

This paper explores the provisioning of selective protection in the physic…As the limits of video compression and usable wireless radio resources are exhausted, providing increased protection to critical data is regarded as a way forward to increase the effective capacity for delivering video data. This paper explores the provisioning of selective protection in the physical layer to critical video data and evaluates its effectiveness when transmitted through a wireless multipath fading channel. In this paper, the transmission of HEVC encoded video through an LTE-A wireless channel is considered. HEVC encoded video data is ranked based on how often each area of the picture is referenced by subsequent frames within a GOP in the sequence. The critical video data is allotted to the most robust OFDM resource blocks, which are the radio resources in the time-frequency domain of the LTE-A physical layer, to provide superior protection. The OFDM resource blocks are ranked based on a prediction for their robustness against noise. Simulation results show that the proposed content aware resource allocation scheme helps to improve the objective video quality up to 37dB at lower channel SNR levels when compared against the reference system, which treats video data uniformly. Alternatively, with the proposed technique the transmitted signal power can be lowered by 30% without sacrificing video quality at the receiver.

However, it is a serious issue to purchase medicine blindly without necessary medication guidance.
In this paper, we propose a novel cloud-based medicine recommendation, which can recommend users with top-N related medicines according to symptoms.
Firstly, we cluster the drugs into several groups according to the functional description information, and design a basic personalized medicine recommendation based on user collaborative filtering.
Then, considering the shortcomings of collaborative filtering algorithm, such as computing expensive, cold start, and data sparsity, we propose a cloud-based approach for enriching end-user Quality of Experience (QoE) of medicine recommendation, by modeling and representing the relationship of the user, symptom and medicine via tensor decomposition.
Finally, the proposed approach is evaluated with experimental study based on a real dataset crawled from Internet.

supports individual users’ requests, and a brief discussion of the benefits from exploiting user-centric features. The approach applies to Heterogeneous Wireless Networks (HWNs) for offloading traffic volumes to small cells and for reducing delay for specific categories of mobile users and mobile application scenarios through Efficient Proactive Caching (EPC) decisions at small cells. The approach is designed to support mobile users’ requests for content not treated by popularity-based caching. Here, we discuss how proactive caching decisions can jointly utilize individual user mobility and data popularity to enhance the benefits of cache decisions for individuals to a broader set of mobiles requesting the same data.

The virtual network configuration is carried out by the service provider, and the functionality is limited by the provider's offerings.

This paper presents a new approach for building and maintaining tenant-programmable virtual networks. This type of virtual networks are the basic building blocks for network function virtualization, and significantly facilitates the implementation of network functions in software. Our approach gives tenants complete control over provisioned virtual network components, and simplifies the integration with on-premises resources. The implementation confirmed the practicality and scalability of the solution, at the cost of a small overhead.

he EAI Endorsed Transactions on Cloud System (ToCS) is an international venue for publishing innovative and cutting edge results on the convergence of next-generation technologies and methodologies reshaping our way of living.
