Abstract
Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is a significant risk factor for neonatal complications, including Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS). Birth weight, particularly in preterm infants, is also closely associated with RDS. Despite this, the relationship between GDM, birth weight, and RDS is complex and requires further exploration. To investigate the relationship between Gestational Diabetes Mellitus and birth weight with the occurrence of Respiratory Distress Syndrome in neonates. Fisher's Exact Test revealed a significant association between Gestational Diabetes Mellitus and the incidence of Respiratory Distress Syndrome (p-value = 0.014, <0.05). Additionally, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test indicated a significant relationship between birth weight and the occurrence of RDS (p-value = 0.019, <0.05). The study suggests that Gestational Diabetes Mellitus and birth weight are significantly associated with the risk of Respiratory Distress Syndrome in neonates. These findings highlight the importance of monitoring and managing GDM during pregnancy to potentially reduce the incidence of RDS and benefit neonatal outcomes.
