Abstract
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the concern of children’s welfare has taken a new dimension around the world including Indonesia. Because the pandemic has both long-term and short-term effects on children's welfare and rights, this study developed and used qualitative research methods to assess measures taken by the parents, teachers, and the larger community to manage the COVID-19 pandemic and mitigate the negative impacts on children. The data were collected using semistructured interview techniques and analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. To explore and obtain a depth of understanding of the information, participants were purposively chosen consisting of all parents and elementary school teachers. The findings of this study indicate that the involvement of parents and elementary school teachers to ensure children are safe and continue to learn as usual during a pandemic is the result of awareness of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on children.
