Abstract
As we know, the development of science and technology nowadays is followed by the usage of many new words in society. The need of a dictionary or glossary is crucial and unavoidable because a dictionary or glossary plays a very important role in learning new words of a language, as it is helpful for lecturers, teachers, students and foreigners, especially those who are studying medicinal herbs in the Sundanese texts. The study of traditional herbs is a popular and interesting field because of the important information given to the society related to the herbs’ health benefit. In the global era like today, there are still many illnesses that cannot be cured. This research is conducted by applying the descriptive qualitative method with philological approaches. Besides, it is supported by lexicography and cultural studies by using several techniques as survey, interviews, active participation, and seminars. Hopefully, the research can give benefits in the development of the new horizon in the field of traditional herbs in accord with the preservation of medicinal herbs among the community, and also the improvement of the vocabulary related to the traditional herbs for foreigners who are learning the Sundanese and Indonesian languages, for those who are involved in the fields of medicines and pharmacy, and also for other people who are interested in traditional herbs.
