Abstract
In this study, a novel frequency selective surface (FSS) structure was proposed to work as a terahertz bandpass filter. The proposed structure is relatively easy to fabricate, exhibits a high transmission of up to 96%, wide bandwidth, and excellent band-edge transitions in the THz frequencies. A theoretical equivalent circuit model is proposed to characterize the structure, based on analysis of the FSS structure geometry configuration and the distribution of the electric field in it. It has been proven that the results obtained by the equivalent circuit model are in good agreement with the numerical simulation tools. Frequency selective surface (FSS) on CST Microwave Studio is used to simulate the filter. The Advanced Design Systems (ADS) is used to simulate the equivalent circuit.
