Abstract
During the 2014 presidential election campaign, journalists' independence was hampered when producing news. This can be seen from the news about the number of presidential candidates who are not balanced, tend to enlarge one presidential candidate and vilify their competitors. This study aims to construct the television news production process, the reality of independence and how journalists attempt to maintain their independence during the 2014 presidential election campaign. To examine this phenomenon, a case study method was used. This study used a qualitative approach, with 7 key informants from the Association Indonesian Television Journalist. Information collection was carried out using data triangulation techniques, which in-depth interviews, documents, and the experiences of researchers in television newsrooms. The results of this study, found that media organizations that place the owner of the mass media as the highest organizational structure, affect the content of the news produced
