Abstract
The university archives play a crucial role as repositories of data and information, supporting effective administration and preserving the collective memory of higher education. Following Indonesia’s Law Number 43 of 2009 on Archives, university archives are responsible for managing archives for the nation. This study examines the management practices, facilitating and inhibiting factors, and improvement efforts in archive administration at Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study approach, the findings reveal that the university’s archive management aligns with legal provisions, encompassing activities such as acquisition, processing, and preservation. The university offers archive services to the academic community, and its leadership strongly supports compliance with regulations. However, challenges include limited archivists, inadequate infrastructure, and low awareness among work units. Efforts are underway to enhance archive administration through outreach and improved facilities.
