Abstract

This study aims to scrutinize the effect of using hand puppet media to improve listening and speaking skills. This study used Quasy Experiment with Posttest Only Control Group Design. This study involved 41 early childhood students in one kindergarten in Palembang, Indonesia. Data collection instruments used observation sheets. Data analysis used the t-test and F test to test the hypothesis. The results showed that (1) there was a significant effect of hand doll media on the skills of listening of kindergarten in children in palembang. (2) there is a significant influence of hand doll media on the speaking skills of kindergarten children in palembang, and (3) there is a significant influence of hand doll media on listening and speaking skills of kindergarten children in Palembang. it is indicated by the results of analysis with manova test obtained F at 13.756 and sig values of 0.000<0.05 means H1 is accepted so it was concluded that there was a significant influence of hand doll media on listening and speaking skills of kindergarten children in Palembang. Consequently, teachers who are willing to develop the listening and speaking skills of students, they can utilize hand doll media in instructional practices in the classroom.
