Abstract
In Aviation, the field of communication encompasses a broad range of activities which includes the operation of navigational aids on the ground, in the air and in space and the development of associated technical requirements, specification and procedures. Communication equipment consists of radars and landing aids as well as air-ground and ground to ground telecommunication equipment. Radio communications on very high frequency (VHF) and high frequency (HF) plays complementary role and are the backbones of air traffic control operations. Telecommunication in aviation can be broadly categorized into either aeronautical fixed services (AFS) or aeronautical mobile service (AMS). The paper illustrates AMS and how bulk voice communication between ground and air was achieved using Radio (Tx/Rx) over Satellite links for aeronautical safety communication in the upper airspace.
