Abstract
The increase in motorized vehicles has led to more traffic on highways. The orientation of the police to create a condition of security and order in society requires a police force that can be trusted by the public. In this case, the police whose implementation refers to the basic references of democracy, and shows that there is a dynamic relationship between the community and police officers, can work to resolve various social problems that occur, especially security problems, and in implementing the police it is also based on the supremacy of the law, always can guarantee and provide protection for human rights (HAM). This type of research is normative research and used statutory and conceptual approach. Data analysis was conducted descriptively qualitatively. This research showed that the traffic police are the implementing element in charge of carrying out police duties, including safeguarding, regulating, escorting and patrolling, public education and traffic engineering, registration and identification of motor vehicle drivers, investigating traffic accidents, and law enforcement in the traffic sector, to uphold protection, order, and smooth traffic. Development developments and increasing economic growth have an impact on the facilities and infrastructure supporting modes of transportation which have implications for the emergence of increasingly complex traffic problems. Motor vehicle ownership grows rapidly if it is not balanced by adequate road length.
