Abstract

The research aims to: (1) describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of learning tools developed through a problem-based model for seventh grade students of junior high school 1 Sintahuis ; (2) Analyzing the improvement of students' conceptual understanding ability after using the developed device. This research uses the learning device development model of Thiagarajan, Semmel and Semmel, namely the 4-D model (Four D Model). This research was carried out in class VIII A in the odd semester of the 2021/2022 academic year Middle School. The results showed that (1) the problem-based learning model learning tools in improving students' mathematical concept understanding skills that were developed had met the valid, practical, and effective criteria; (2) Increasing the ability to understand mathematical concepts by using a problem-based model developed from the average N-gain value in the first and second trials.
