Abstract

Scientific and technological innovation has become an important strategic measure to achieve high-quality economic development under the new development pattern in China. Exploring the mechanism of scientific and technological innovation on economic development quality is of great significance to achieve high-quality economic development and the long-term goal of socialist modernization. Based on the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2003 to 2019, this paper measures China's economic development quality and analyzes its temporal and spatial evolution trend. With the help of the variable coefficient fixed-effect model, this paper empirically studies the impact of scientific and technological innovation on the quality of economic development. It is found that the quality of China's economic development is improving year by year, and the region with the best quality of economic development is gradually inclined from the southeast coastal region of China to the north China region. Scientific and technological innovation has significantly promoted the quality of economic development, and there are regional differences.
