Abstract

This study investigated Madania senior high school, as an inclusive educational institution, in viewing the urgency of Islamic education (PAI) subject to respond to the present global world challenges. This research is a qualitative study employing field research, observations, and interviews as data collection methods. The primary data sources are the Islamic Education (PAI) learning syllabus, the results of observations, and interviews. Some authoritative literatures related to the study were used as secondary data. The collected data were then processed and analysed descriptively. In responding to the current challenges, the Islamic education curriculum was developed by emphasizing 21st-century skills, applying technology-based learning, ‘learning by doing’ approach, and teaching humanist and moderate Islamic thought to strengthen the students’ spirit of tolerance and inclusivism.
