Abstract
The research tries to study the lack of learning media that supports and improves the speaking skills of the students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program (PBSI), Faculty of Teacher Training and Educational Sciences, Universitas Tidar, in the Speaking course. During this time, the students still experience difficulties in practicing public speaking like speaking in front of the class. This research method uses a survey with 111 first-semester students of the PBSI study program of Universitas Tidar as the respondents. The data are analyzed using four criteria of the Likert scale. The results show that the need to use speaking skills in everyday life is included in the "agree" criterion with a score of 2.67. The need to use speaking learning media is included in the "agree" criterion with a score of 3.03. The need to use a simulator as a learning medium to speak is included in the "agree" criterion with a score of 2.78.
