Abstract
The massive development of social media in recent years has encouraged teachers' creativity to use it in language learning. Bibliometric analysis and content analysis were carried out to provide an in-depth understanding of research developments in this field and how social media is used by teachers and its impact on the achievement of learning objectives. The analysis was carried out by analyzing relevant documents obtained from the Scopus database published from 2013-2022 using the VOS Viewer. Overall, based on predetermined criteria, 250 publications from 10 countries were obtained that discussed the use of social media in language learning. The results of the analysis of keyword trends and clustering show that the development of social media research is widely used to support multimodal learning and collaborative learning in the context of language learning. In addition, based on the content analysis, it is known that the affordability aspect is the main consideration in selecting the social media used. Referring to this aspect, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter are the top 3 media that are widely used. The use of social media also has a positive impact on students' motivation in learning languages.
