Abstract

This study aims to find out the reasons for the government to make a policy of granting remissions to corrupt convicts and analyze the impact of granting remissions to corrupt convicts from a sociological perspective. This type of research is a field. The approach used is empirical data collection techniques through in-depth interviews with informants directly without going through intermediary media, which are directly analyzed through qualitative methods. This study indicates that the government's aim in implementing the policy of granting remissions is to reduce overcapacity and foster prisoners to become better human beings. In addition, the impact of granting remissions to corrupt convicts does not affect eradicating corruption.
