Abstract

Individuals and families are elements of society that have various roles and functions, one of which is as consumer. They will consume a variety of products that will affect the quality of the environment. Conversely, the quality of the environment will affect the quality of the life of individuals and families. Therefore, the individuals and families play important role for maintaining the quality of the environment through consumption activities. Those who care about the impact of consumption activities are called green consumers. The green consumers serve as prerequisite for achieving Sustainable Development Goal Number 12, namely responsible Consumption and Production. By urging environmentally friendly products, green consumers endorse producers to fulfil the conditions for the green environment and to urge them to behave in accordance with the sustainability of a healthy environment. To educate consumers need the participation of various parties, such as families, communities, educators, producers, non-profit organizations and government. Government policies should address the awareness of green consumers
