Abstract

This present study focuses on analyzing the kinds and functions of conjunction expressing reason and purpose. This study is designed by using qualitative approach. The data sources were taken from five novels. Based on the result of analysis, it was found that there are two types of conjunction expressing purpose, such as: so and so that and there are five types of conjunction expressing reason, such as: as, because, in case, just in case, and since. It can be concluded that all of conjunctions functioned to connect two clauses, independent clause and dependent clause.
