Abstract

Sanur Village is one of the tourist destinations in Bali famous for its natural coastal beauty. The development of tourism in the village also brought changes to the economy of the people in the region. Most of the people that initially worked as fishermen are now shifting profession to the tourism sector which is positively impacting on local communities. Subsequently, there is an increase in the number of taxi drivers by the surrounding community due to the rise in tourist visits. The development of local taxi transportation services, is therefore, the basis needed by drivers need to acquire good and correct English skills in order to adjust to the language ethics. The partner in this program is the chairman of the Sanur Development Foundation (YPS) that plays an essential role in developing the English skills of taxi drivers in Sanur Village. The obstacle faced is the unavailability of learning resources both in the form of books and examples of special conversations. Another obstacle is the unavailability of free time for them to participate in training, which is unpredictable due to uncertain working hours as a driver. The outcome of this Community Partnership Program is a cloud-based or online English training equipped as a manual of video for taxi divers to converse. The training process shows that they currently have a special guidebook which is accessible online and whatsApp groups that allow discussion at any time.
