Abstract

A monoionic bidentate Schiff base ligand of (O, N) type, LH2 and their complexes, 1-6 were synthesized from the reaction between homoveratrylamine and βresorcinaldehyde followed by using respective metal salt. The synthesized LH2 and 1-6 have been characterized by spectroscopic and elemental analytical methods. The characterization data revealed that the coordination of LH2 to the central metal ion through monoionic bidentate (N,O-) type donor. The antimicrobial activity of LH2 and 16 were evaluated. The metal complexes (1-6) were shows comparatively greater antimicrobial activity than ligand (LH2).
