Abstract
Economic activity has been able to rise dramatically as a result of e-commerce transactions. This study employs a normative legal research methodology that combines a conceptual and statutory approach. The findings demonstrate that a human right is the protection of private information as part of privacy. Both the constitution and a number of statutory provisions attest to this acknowledgment. However, the statutory level of private data protection is not governed by any particular rules. Regarding the use of private information in online transactions, Indonesia has no laws. Only Essay 26 of the ITE Law and a few other provisions address this matter. Economic institutions that come from internet transactions are at risk due to inadequate privacy and private data security. In order to facilitate online consumer transactions, consumers must have legal protection. Regardless of the media chosen, the goal is to complete every transaction in the same manner.
