Abstract

In this digital economy era, numerous technological advances have simplified human life, including online trading. Shopee provides online credit services through Shopee Paylater, which includes a handling fee of 1%, interest of 2.95%, and a late fee of 5%. However, not all users understand these provisions well, leading to payment difficulties and even criminal acts. This research aims to analyze how Islamic law views the Shopee Paylater payment system. This normative legal research uses a library research approach and is descriptive-analytical with statutory and case approaches. It concludes that while Shopee Paylater benefits buyers by enabling shopping without immediate funds and aids both sellers and buyers through efficiency, Islamic law deems it haram. This is due to the combination of sale and loan contracts, interest constituting usury, and the haram nature of free shipping and cashback vouchers as they arise from the loan.
