Abstract

This research investigates the determinants of student’s academic dishonesty. Several factors affecting student’s academic dishonesty, namely self-esteem, personal value, ambiguity, cultural integrity, and pressure. Data was collected through a questionnaire on Padang State Polytechnic students. The results showed that the factors of self-esteem and personal values had a negative effect on the student's academic dishonesty. This study also found that high ambiguity regarding sanctions for academic dishonesty will increase the tendency to commit academic dishonesty. This research is expected to provide feedback to the Padang State polytechnic in developing policies to reduce or prevent the occurrence of academic dishonesty among students.
