Abstract
Software defined network (SDN) is an emerging network architecture where control plane is decoupled from forwarding and is directly programmable. SDN has been studied by academic for several years and some prototype have been developed and tested by industry. Here we firstly analyze SDN's architecture in an operator's view. Then we discuss SDN applications for telecom networks and its influence for the future.
