Abstract

Tactical Data Link System always uses Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) in Mac Layer. In TDMA, the channel is divided into time slots, and nodes are allocated slots to transmit data through the same time slot assignment algorithm. The tactical scenario is complicate and unpredictable, and some important messages need high Qos guarantee. It is hard to guarantee the Qos by the pre-allocated slot assignment protocol when the network is flooded, so Qos-based dynamic slot assignment protocol flourishes. But there is still a problem that low-priority message always suffers from starvation in these traditional Qos-based protocols. Thus, we propose a new Qos-based slot assignment protocol, which the frame length is changed dynamically according to the number of the requests in the network, to improve Qos performance of all kinds of messages. Through the simulation, we find that this protocol decreases the delay of messages of higher priority to some extent and obviously achieves desirable delay of the low priority message. Meanwhile, this protocol also improves the channel utilization.
