Abstract

This paper proposes an improvement for SCTP congestion control procedures in high-speed networks. Current SCTP congestion control algorithms may lead to premature termination of the startup phase, resulting in an under-utilization of network resources and a corresponding degradation of network performance. Therefore, this paper develops an algorithm that estimates network conditions during the startup phase and rapidly expands the congestion window to match the available bandwidth. The simulation results confirmed that the proposed scheme can improve the performance of SCTP associations in high-speed networks.
