Abstract

IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is considered as the main solution for the next generation multimedia rich communication. The hotspot topic of IMS has motivated many researches on the performance modeling and analysis based on SIP. In order to analyze expected performance characteristics of IMS more precisely, we proposed our novel work which is the first study to accurately describe SIP signaling in IMS using Queuing Petri Nets(QPN), performance results indicate us to find system bottleneck and increase system handling ability in practices. Further more, we got expected performance matrix under different security mechanisms and algorithms, which helps us provide individual services to diverse users and applications for a better tradeoff between security requirements and system performance in IMS.
