Abstract

In this paper, we model the two-tier heterogeneous hierarchical overlay wireless networks as open networks of loss systems. With the help of a network topology aided analysis of the handover traffic rates, the performance metrics of blocking and dropping probabilities are calculated using Erlang fixed-pointed method. A symmetric traffic and an asymmetric traffic scenario are set up and the numerical results are calculated and discussed.
