Abstract

Wireless sensor networks lack some basic abilities taken for granted in wired networks, such as the ability to know adjacent nodes. It needs nodes detect and neighbor management protocols for essential topology control. For the inimitable characteristics of wireless sensor networks, most current neighbor protocols lack energy efficiency and adaptive capacity. An adaptive node detecting protocol (ANDP) was proposed in this paper. It establishes mathematics model for node detect, and give relation formula between network parameter and detect probability. According to the SNR of the packets received from neighbor nodes, each node maintains its neighbor table. Simulations over different topologies demonstrate that our proposed methodology scales to large networks.
