Abstract

A major limitation to the capacity of WCDMA is multiple access interference (MAI) produced by the other co-channel users. In this paper, a simplified rake receiver with interference rejection combining (IRC) is investigated. The signal transmitted on the control channel is used for channel estimation and weight calculation. Compared to the maximum ratio combining (MRC), IRC can get better MAI rejection. It is a simplified algorithm to be implemented.
