Abstract
This paper investigates failure recovery mechanisms for optical network with a very high reliability requirement, where a novel framework of network failure recovery, called Failure Presumed Protection (FPP), is proposed. Our scheme aims to perform 100% failure restoration using only an approximate location of the failed links identified from the connection status information available at each network node.
