Abstract
In recent years, sports broadcasting has increasingly integrated AI-based image recognition technologies. Systems such as Hawk-Eye, used in tennis and badminton for decision support, the Table Tennis Review (TTR) system for table tennis, and Microsoft’s True View system have all been widely adopted in live sports coverage. However, the unique characteristics of table tennis—its small playing area, compact and fast-moving ball, strong spin, and unpredictable landing points-pose considerable challenges. These factors often hinder viewers’ sense of immersion, engagement, and overall experience. Therefore, this study incorporates AI-powered recognition of dynamic table tennis imagery into traditional sports broadcasting, aiming to propose a new paradigm for enhancing the sports broadcasting experience.
