Abstract
We provide the definitive implementation of the seminal agent-based societal simulationSugarscape. Our implementation is fully-featured open source software [5] that aims to make Sugarscape available for use by researchers across disciplines. It includes an extensive validation of all results shown inGrowing Artificial Societies[2]. We also discuss the significant challenges in modernizing this groundbreaking body of work.
