Abstract

The project management profession has evolved significantly in the past few years and a new standard that reflects the full range of changes has been introduced. In this paper we address our approach to update the curriculum in project management. We made structural changes to the traditional project management Team Project to introduce business analysis core competencies to students. The group project integrates predictive plan-based and agile development approaches and introduces business analysis and requirements elicitation topics. In this paper we introduce the changes in the new standards and illustrate implementation using an exemplar project. Our conclusions of job task analysis statements reveal that students mastered traditional, hybrid, adaptive development approaches as business analysis core concepts successfully.
