Abstract

Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) transmits Uplink Control Information (UCI) from the User Equipment to the next generation NodeB. Coverage enhancement is an item studied in the procedure of Rel-17. PUCCH is one of bottleneck channels according to the simulation results in several scenarios. There are several proposals on PUCCH coverage enhancement including Demodulation Reference Signal-less transmission scheme. In this paper, based on PUCCH sequence combination design at the transmitter, an enhanced non-coherent receiver is proposed. Firstly, the specific sequence combination design is described. Then, the procedure description and theoretical analysis are given for this enhanced receiver. Finally, simulation results and complexity analysis on different schemes verify that the proposed receiver reduces computation complexity significantly with slight performance loss. Therefore, the proposed receiver has high practical value for PUCCH coverage enhancement.
