Abstract

Ultra-wide band (UWB) based indoor positioning systems are preferred for accurate positioning applications due to the high time resolution offered by UWB signals. This paper proposes an algorithm for determining the leading edge of UWB signal for indoor positioning applications and assess its performance in different signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) conditions. We found that the proposed algorithm outperforms the previously published methods, especially under low SNR situations. The performance of the algorithm can be further increased with an additional number of anchor nodes.
