Abstract
With the widespread applications of the Internet of Things (IoT), the heterogeneity of communication protocols and data frame formats in the sensor networks has become a significant issue. To address this problem, in this paper we design a reconfigurable protocol conversion module for heterogeneous sensor networks. Based on a microcontroller unit (MCU) hardware platform, the communication protocol conversion among RS232, CAN, and Ethernet is implemented. The upper computer software is developed to receive data from the sensor networks, configure the hardware platform communication parameters, and adjust the monitoring parameters to the normal range. Moreover, aiming to solve the problem of data frame format differences in various IoT applications, we design a reconfigurable scheme to customize data frame formats, enabling the system’s support for heterogeneous sensor networks. The experimental results validate the feasibility of the reconfigurable protocol conversion module, and show that the system can transmit, receive, and manage the sensor data effectively.
