Abstract

In this paper, two preamble designs and the corresponding timing offset estimation methods for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems are proposed. The performance of the timing offset estimations in both additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and multipath channel in term of estimation variance is obtained by computer simulation. Compared to the conventional Minn's method , both proposed methods are robust and present much smaller variance in multipath channels.
