Abstract

Cognitive radio is a promising and challengeable technology for maximizing radio resource utilization in a future wireless communication system. In this paper, we describe a problem caused by primary users of a cognitive radio system and propose underlay-overlay switching and underlay-relay methods to solve the problem in the cognitive radio system. Through performance analysis and simulation results, we show that our proposed method has outstanding performance in view of outage probability compared with a conventional method.
