Abstract

Finding independent node-disjoint paths is a challenging task in an ad hoc environment. In this paper, we study the impact of employing directional antennas on node-disjoint multipath routing in mobile ad hoc networks. We focus on routing overheads and correlation among node-disjoint multipaths between a given pair of nodes. We have proposed schemes to mitigate routing overheads and path correlation using semi-directional and directional antennas. We have shown analytically that routing overheads as well as path correlation are reduced using proposed schemes which utilize directional antennas in comparison to existing schemes where omni-directional antennas are used
