Abstract
Nowadays the 2G/3G interoperability has been enabled over the real networks. However, as there are many 2G/3G borders in the same area, especially in the same location, too much extra network traffic is caused by paging signals and location updates within the 2G and 3G networks. In this paper, we propose a new method to reduce the traffic of both paging signal and update messages by path diversity. Theoretical analysis is shown and implementation results are also given.
