Abstract

Spectrum efficiency in multi-radio ad hoc networks can be improved by introducing channel assignment. In this paper, we present a network model, a communication model and an interference model, considering the difference of transmitting powers on different nodes. And based on these models, we formulate channel assignment as a constrained optimization problem and present several approximate algorithms to handle wireless channels with different qualities. Simulation results show that these algorithms can greatly reduce network interference.
