Abstract

An Amplify-and-Forward multicarrier cooperative system is proposed in this paper. The optimal resource-allocation (joint power allocation and subcarrier assignment problem) has been investigated for improving the system’s bit-error rate (BER) performance. Utilizing the steepest-descent algorithm, an optimal resource-allocation algorithm is proposed. And a suboptimal resource-allocation algorithm with simplified computation complexity is proposed as well for trade off between performance and efficiency. Simulation results show that these algorithms not only reduce BER effectively, but also improve the diversity order. In addition, with the location information knowledge, the optimal BER performance can be achieved only by setting an appropriate complexity coefficient of the suboptimal algorithm.
